-- About Equidem Research & Consulting
Equidem Research and Consulting is a specialist human rights and labour rights consultancy dedicated to defending the human rights of vulnerable individuals and communities including migrant workers, women, children and minorities in the context of labour migration and humanitarian and post-conflict settings.
Equidem is committed to concrete, practical and sustainable approaches for businesses, governments, international non-government organisations and civil society. We take a “bottom up” approach that first seeks to establish the situation for the most vulnerable individuals and communities and identify gaps in the protection frameworks.
Equidem is incorporated as a limited liability company in the United Kingdom and a registered office in Nepal and teams in Bangladesh, Ethiopia, India, Kenya, Malaysia, Pakistan, South Korea and across the Arab Gulf countries. With our network of experts and investigators across Asia and the Middle East we provide our partners with unrivalled access to information supported by comprehensive analysis and practical recommendations.
Our approach
“No matter how well thought out, no strategy that seeks to protect human rights can be effective unless you first understand the reality for migrant workers and other affected groups at risk of abuse or exploitation”
- Mustafa Qadri, Founder and Executive Director of Equidem Research and Consulting
Equidem specializes in research, advice, and training on free and fair recruitment, international and national-level labour standards, and human rights and labour rights compliance by states and businesses, including sub-contractors and in supply chains. We are specialists in ethically and objectively investigating human rights abuses including child labour, forced labour, human trafficking, deceptive recruitment and other exploitative practices.
Equidem is able to carry out its research, advice and training because of our bottom-up approach using our team of experts and unrivalled network of investigators who belong to affected communities from South and South East Asia and in the Middle East. Each of our field investigators has been personally selected and trained by our team of experts following years of collaboration on human rights investigations in some of the most difficult and sensitive contexts.
